ABOUT TORA

Multi-hyphenate talent Tora Kim brings energy, passion and the epic experience of a worldly soul to the work. As an actor and member of the Television Academy, she shines in comedic and dramatic roles on television, film and theater with an expressive personality, intelligence and dancer-trained physicality. She appears in major shows on CBS, FOX, Nickelodeon, Netflix, SyFy, and Amazon, as well as in feature films with James Franco, Nicolas Cage and Willem Dafoe. She can be heard in her recurring role as Shover's Mom on Seasons 3 and 4 of BOSS BABY [Netflix/Dreamworks] and most recently Tora worked with Anderson .Paak in his directorial debut KPOPS!, produced by Stampede Ventures.

As a lifelong artist, performer and award-winning writer, Tora naturally gravitated toward producing, directing and writing her own films which have won awards for Best Short Film, Best Comedy and Best Director on the festival circuit. Her original dramedy pilot script The World, Baby! was recently chosen for a Black List-sponsored live reading in Los Angeles and she just completed her first American-French co-production with her darkly surreal short film, INFERNO IN PARIS, which she wrote, produced and plays the lead. Meanwhile, she continues to show her work as a performance artist in numerous museums and galleries around the world. Her award-winning prose has been published in literary journals.

Before coming to film and television, Tora showed promise early on as a ground-breaking singer/musician/composer in rock and experimental music. She has toured internationally, feeding an inspired need to not only see and experience various cultures and places, but to make meaningful connections between people in all countries throughout the course of shared histories.

MUSIC

AKA Tora Brava. From the packed clubs of the New York City underground music scene with her band Xtatika, to performing on stages all over the world, Tora is an accomplished singer, songwriter and musician who has worked with artists including Sean Lennon, John Zorn and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. She has produced and performed on seven albums of original works influenced by rock, pop, dance, experimental and ritual Korean music for a genre-busting sound. After 9 years of school choir, Tora trained in p'ansori, a traditional style of Korean opera, and brought her voice to Xtatika's first album TONGUE BATH [Tzadik]. The album caught the world's attention with its unconventional sound, driven by ritual Korean percussion and boldly unique vocals. Every album since then also boasts its own trademark sound, ranging from electro-pop, classic indie, to bootie-shaking industrial dance rock. Check out Soundcloud for a sample of tunes.
